Examinations & Grading

The assessment of students is made up of two components:

  • continuous assessment (40 marks)
  • final written exam (60 marks)

The 40 marks of the continuous assessment are allocated as follows:

  •  the midterm exam (20 marks),
  • attendance (5 marks)
  • 1-3 assignment/s, project/s (15 marks)

For practical modules, there may be only continuous assessment without any written final exams. However,
the lecturer may assign a special exercise for each student in the workshop towards the end of the semester
and the marks awarded will represent the final written mark.

The final written exam carries 60 marks and takes place at the end of each academic semester. This exam
tests the whole content of a module taught in the current semester. The final mark for each module is the
sum of the continuous assessment mark and the final written exam.

Continuous Assessment (40 marks) + Final Exam (60 marks) = 100 marks

The passing mark for each module is 50/100.

Marking may take the form of a number or a characteristic of a group of various types of marking, as shown in the table below:

  • Students who think they deserve a different grade for a particular subject must complete the Change of Grade Form and send it via email to academicdirector@casacollege.ac.cy or submit it at the reception.
  • Students who wish for their exam paper to be reviewed must complete the Examination Re-Mark Form and submit it to the Director of Academic Studies, Mrs. Ellie Petrou, Office 004, within a week after the announcement of the exam results.
  • Students who are unhappy with the grade they received for a particular subject have the opportunity to improve it by requesting a make-up exam at the additional cost of 150 euro. This can be done by completing the Make-Up Examination Form and submitting it to the Director of Academic Studies, Mrs. Ellie Petrou, Office 004.
